The Goddess Weighs In

Living Large and Healthy

About The Goddess

Profile pic of Cynthia

Fat and funny with sensible shoes is often how I describe myself.

I was a fat kid, a fat teen and I am a fat adult. I have tried most of the popular diets and plans, a few of the diet fads and even a few completely harebrained schemes. I’ve fasted, I’ve abused laxatives and I’ve cried. I don’t blame anyone for my size and while I don’t wish to be the fattest person in the room, it’s not the end of the world either.

I don’t want to talk about pounds lost and gained or magical quick fix diets that are akin to starvation. I want to talk about getting healthy and eating well without beating myself up for the odd treat and I want to live my life without waiting for that magical day when I will be thin and all will be well with the world.  As one average-sized friend pointed out to me many years ago -” life isn’t perfect just because you’re thin”.

I also want to source and review products that are of interest to me and other people of size.  It’s been my experience that many products are just not made for big girls or are not that easy to find.  I understand economies of scale and that it just isn’t prudent for many businesses to offer product lines that fit everyone, but perhaps I can help find some that offer special orders or businesses which cater specifically to people of size.   If you’re looking for something like a step ladder, exercise equipment or some sexy unmentionables let me know and hopefully we can source out what we need and avoid those retailers who simply cannot deliver suitable product.

  1. Hi there, Goddess, I sent you an email about a week ago, just wanted to make sure you got it–if you didn’t, let me know!

    The Goddess,
Le Clown is visiting this week’s guest bloggers on The Outlier Collective to thank them for their contributions. So…. thank you for magnificent™ article.

  3. I love your fresh perspective. I agree there’s much more to life than fitting society’s classic definition of sexy. A few years ago, I got sued. I became so anxious that I couldn’t eat and dropped 20 pounds very quickly. I would have preferred to keep the 20 pounds and my money.

OhMaGoddess!! I LOVE what you have going on here, sister. LOVE IT!! Can I say that again? I LOOOOOOVE it! Not only did your blog make me smile within the first 30-seconds of reading, it has left a lasting big ol’ grin on my big-girl face. You are such an inspiration. Oooo…can I be a follower? Can I?! I AM! You rock it. Please come see me at BigBodyBeautiful. We are two peas in a pod and I wanna play with you, sis. Big, warm hugs to you! ~BigLizzy

Buwwwhaahahaa…now, that is just embarrassing. So sorry! As you can tell, sis. I got very very behind on keeping up with followers. It’s just a huge blur to me every day. Primarily because I spend about 14 hours per day on a computer–for my Technical Writing work and for my creative writing. I apologize for missing you and your amazing blog. I will spend the next two lifetimes making it up to you. Hugs and kisses from your Dizzy Miss Lizzy. XOXO

  6. You’ve been nominated for a Sunshine Award at! Thanks for being so inspirational.

  7. Hi there goddess. I just stumbled upon your blog and love it. Just a couple of weeks ago I started a blog myself about healthy plus size women and I totally think we are on the same page. Would love to get in touch.

  8. You’ve been awarded the Dragon’s Loyalty Award. I know that not everyone accepts awards. If I’ve linked to you and you don’t want it, please don’t be annoyed with me, just take it as a sign of appreciation for what you do. You do not have to accept this or any other award. It is a compliment, not a curse!

  9. I know you’re not big on awards, but you’ve been nominated for another. I simply can’t help sending readers your way, this blog is too good to miss!

  10. This morning while lying in bed I was stressing about weight and why I have been eating cleaner (low sugar and carbs) and haven’t lost a pound but after reading your about page I gave my head a shake. It really is about health and not size. Thanks
